The cause of enlarged veins, so-called varicose veins, is often a congenital connective tissue weakness. They are not only a cosmetic problem but can also lead to water retention, inflammation and thromboses in the legs. If conservative therapies like compression stockings, endurance sports or special vein gymnastics are insufficient, enlarged veins can be treated surgically. We, for example, perform catheter-based heat ablation on an outpatient basis. If the clinical picture is more advanced, our specialists remove the affected vein segments during a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
